HOME/ ABOUT US

The AUT ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING LAB is a hub within the AUT University City Campus which focuses on the ever evolving world of rapid prototyping and manufacturing technology.

Rapid Product Development is the integration of design, manufacturing and marketing using a systematic process to initiate, research and develop successful products in the shortest possible time.

Operating both as a research center and as a consultancy, the Lab's key objective is to develop a range of tools and techniques for adding value to the product development process, particularly in the areas of design quality, Human Centered Design (HCD), and speed to market. These tools and techniques range from fuzzy front-end prototyping to novel rapid prototyping methods.

Products are thus built up by progressively adding material, one layer at a time: hence the technology’s other name, additive manufacturing
